This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles has provided all the monologues that students can use during the festival. However, students are now curious about the plays and would like to better understand the monologues through the play's context.
The students involved come from various cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
The one thing they have in common is their love of the arts especially Theatre Arts. They attend a school that has a strong arts history and they are not afraid of an artistic challenge.
My Project
The copies of August Wilson's plays will give students a better insight into why he created the work as well as a working knowledge of the text. Students will be able connect the monologue they have chosen with the actual text. This allows students to be better informed during their performances.
This donation will give students access to plays which may not be accessible due to cost.
Many students are interested in more then one text and they would have this at their fingertips in school.
