Help me give my students Scholastic News and play scripts to help strengthen and grow a love to read!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The school I teach in is very diverse and the majority of the students deal with poverty. With this in mind, many of our students come from homes with limited resources. A lot of my classroom students are below grade level, which makes it hard to remain motivated to learn when you are already struggling and feeling behind. The students in my classroom have been working on a growth mindset and wanting to learn. Already, so many hurdles have already been crossed in such a short time with them as we work on having a growth mindset.
My students have recently taken on a LOVE to read!!!!
Help continue to encourage this passion through new materials for my classroom! It would be absolutely AMAZING to be able to put Scholastic News in every students hands to read and learn from. Additionally, funding would help be able to place play scripts in the hands of each child to be able to work on fluency. Not only will the students have fun while learning through the scripts, it will also help the classroom bond as a community!!! Help us grow a love to learn through strengthening our reading skills!
The play scripts from Scholastic Classroom Magazine provides opportunities to work on fluency and classroom community skills. Additionally, it will be used to meet standards for the state. Because many of the kids need extra attention in reading skills, this is an exciting way to get their attention and read in a form they are not use to. Students have expressed a strong interest in theater in the classroom but there is not a lot of materials available, therefore, it would be absolutely wonderful to be able to surprise them with 3 different play scripts to act out together!
The funding is to also provide Scholastic News in the hands of every student in the classroom!
The exciting part of the materials requested is that they will not only enhance reading skills but they cross into other areas of learning. Articles in Scholastic News vary but include a lot of social science and science topics! Scholastic news is written specific to grade level and is enhanced with photos and activities to learn from.
The students would LOVE to have these materials in their hands to learn from!
