My Students
I am a special education inclusion teacher at an elementary school. I have students in fourth grade with many different disabilities. I work in two inclusion classrooms each day. My students are fully-included with their peers in the classroom, but still have many needs that require significant support to succeed.
I spend most of my time with my students with their classwork and modifying their assignments so they are able to complete them successfully.
My students are bright, funny, hard-working, and most importantly UNIQUE! It is a pleasure to work with them! I work hard so that they can keep up with being in a large classroom, despite their disability.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference in my students' learning because they will be able to access grade-level reading books. It is so difficult for a lot of them to read age-appropriate books during independent-reading-time. Finding a "just right" book can be challenging to lower readers because they want to read interesting, grade-level books but the only text they can read is below grade level. By having a book with a C.D included, they can listen as they read which will help with their fluency skills and comprehension skills. Having this tool will help all my students succeed! They all want to learn, and this would help many of my struggling readers.
