"Reading should not be presented as a chore or a duty. It should be offered as a gift."- Kate DiCamillo
My students are active learners with diverse backgrounds, goals, and needs.
They enjoy working together in various centers throughout the room. As very energetic little people, the ability to work in areas that are both stimulating and comfortable to them is a must for their success!
My students look forward to literacy centers and working in small groups daily as we feel we are better together!
Many of my students need more support in reading fluency and comprehension skills. My project is for a literacy center that will allow my students to listen to audio versions of books as they read along. I plan to pair on grade level texts with the corresponding audio-books for students that would not be able to read on grade level texts proficiently on their own.
This type of reading experience makes connections between the written and spoken, which builds and strengthens reading skills.
Our audio literacy center will be a low pressure opportunity for students to practice and absorb new words and reading experiences.
