This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

COVID-19 has left many of our students behind. In order to access the grade level reading material and close the gap, students need to be able to listen to the grade level text online while following along in the textbook. These headphones will provide that opportunity for many students from low-income families that are not able to provide their children with this needed school supply.

My 6th graders do not want to be singled out as non or low readers.

By having the exciting stories and text read aloud, student engagement and a love of reading will increase. As well as engagement, the use of audible texts will allow students to continue working on the necessary skills needed to become great readers such as finding the main idea and details in a text and making an inference based off text evidence. These are essential skills they will need later in life.
