Help me give my students fidget spinners, slime, brainteasers, speed cubes, bubble gum, bouncy balls. lip smackers, and animal plush toys to buy at our end of the year auction.
"It's Friday! Friday! Friday! Don't wanna work, I want to play!" This is a favorite chant of my fifth graders who visit at least three classrooms each Friday, singing and being praised for their hard work that they have completed that week.
The students' enthusiasm for celebrating their hard work permeates throughout the entire building.
They are positive role models for the younger grade levels in our school. I really strive to teach my students to be the positive role models I know they can be.
We also have a local National Guard Unit in our area and have a lot of military families with parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins serving in our beautiful country. Our staff also has the opportunity to focus on homeless students in our area by attending workshops and lectures to meet the needs of our students. We are dedicated to helping our students and their families in every way we can.
My Project
My fifth graders are earning play money called Cody Cash this year. They love the opportunity to learn about finances and responsibilities with earning money. I love the quote "The price of doing nothing can be very expensive."
I teach my fifth graders that if they learn to work hard now and be responsible humans that life will be so much easier for them.
Students earn Cody Cash by being responsible 5th graders. They must turn in their work consistently, behave appropriately, set good examples, and be respectful to earn the money. The students really look forward to the auction. Fidget spinners, slime, bouncy balls, gumballs, stress balls, and brain teasers are just some of the many items that my students would love to be able to buy at the auction. Also, I love this activity because it also teaches the students that sometimes we have to be willing to pay a little more for the things we really want in life.
The looks on my students faces when they finally get the one item that they have worked so hard at earning all year long are completely priceless!. It's definitely an auction money madness!!
