Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, curious second graders who are eager to learn and grow. As a bilingual class, many of my students are English Language Learners (ELLs) navigating the challenges of acquiring a new language while mastering grade-level content. They thrive when given the right tools to help them visualize concepts and express their ideas.

This project seeks to provide my students with essential writing materials: anchor chart paper and lined writing paper; These resources will play a critical role in promoting language development, supporting writing skills, and creating a classroom environment where all learners can succeed.

These large sheets will help us create colorful, interactive visuals to support both English and Spanish literacy. We’ll use anchor charts to break down vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and storytelling elements. Students will also co-create charts during lessons, reinforcing their understanding of concepts and boosting their confidence.

With wide-ruled lines and a space for illustrations, this paper will encourage students to practice writing sentences, paragraphs, and stories. Bilingual learners will have opportunities to write in both languages, helping them develop stronger language connections and fluency.

With these resources, my students will feel more empowered to engage in writing activities, from composing simple sentences to creating imaginative stories. They’ll also build their confidence as bilingual communicators, celebrating their unique linguistic abilities.
