My students all have amazing strengths and sometimes their need to move gets in the way of them demonstrating what they know and doing their best. They are working to be more independent in their learning tasks as they prepare for middle school next year.
Individual visual timers and flexible seating help students take charge of their learning, despite their different needs.
We will use visual timers to give a concrete example of how long students should be attending to a task or taking a break or waiting for a turn. We will use seating with chair bands/tools to help them move so that their brain can focus when their body needs to move. The standing desk will be utilized by students who need to stand and focus/do their work.
