This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello, I am an attendance counselor at an elementary in East Los Angeles, and my school is currently struggling with student attendance. We provide academic and social-emotional services to improve attendance rates and academic achievement. Students and families receive intensive support services to help identify and overcome barriers that impede regular school attendance and success. The materials and supplies I am requesting for my students will promote good attendance. Materials and supplies will be used on Fridays during lunch to make the environment more fun. We need your help in getting everything through our door! Our plan is to reward students who maintain excellent attendance, while also providing support and encouragement to students with improved attendance. Students with perfect attendance for the week will be invited to the auditorium, where everything will be arranged. There will be different stations with games. I also plan on having a raffle and giving out small toys and other incentives.

Research shows that students who enjoy school do perform better in the classroom.

When implementing this new activity, students will feel more motivated to come to school and win prizes. We want to reward their good efforts. We will use these materials to improve attendance and grades because we firmly believe that developing good attendance habits leads to brighter futures. Yet I genuinely need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
