Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a very diverse group of autistic students in grades one-three. They come from varied home settings but all qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
My students learn at different levels, using different materials and techniques.
Most of my students do not come to school with the basic school supplies so I like to send home pencils, erasers, folders, etc when I send homework so they have the materials needed to complete their work.
Rarely do any of these materials return to school with the homework so I need to make sure I have ample supplies for the school year.
My Project
My students like to be organized and can become easily frustrated when their work is not in order when they put it in their folders or display it in the classroom.
Having a heavy duty stapler and colorful classroom magnets will allow me to keep and show off student work.
I have a student who loves to staple worksheets and any notes/permission slips etc that I give to them. My current stapler is difficult for him to use and often jams, causing him to be upset, resulting in yelling. The Swingline Stapler is strong enough to withstand the daily use and at times abuse.
The colorful magnets will liven up the classroom with student work.
