My students need a variety of books to help promote a love of reading through out the day.

My Students

Think of a time when you have truly enjoyed a good book and where you were. I am trying to provide a fun and engaging area with choices for my second grade students to read. My students have a thirst for knowledge and truly enjoy reading wherever they can find a spot in my classroom.

My students come from a high poverty area in North TX.

with many of our students having little opportunity or exposure to books at home. When they leave my room every day many go home to families whose parents work late and who have little to no time to push the pure joy of reading. These same students come from homes that have never had a high school graduate, much less a college graduate. As a part of the No Excuses University network, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be educated and someday go to college. I hope to do my part by working on bridging the gaps in their reading ability. And while many kids see reading as chore, I hope to change this view by making reading fun.

My Project

I want my students to have a fun and engaging area with a variety of popular authors to build up a love for reading. I've created a structured and challenging classroom environment for my students to operate in, but believe that an improved library that will be accessible throughout the day can influence an eager group of readers to reach their full potential and more. In addition, these materials will help to build up reading fluency, story comprehension, and exposure to all types of genres.

Your donation will help to further promote the growth of an elaborate classroom library that is supportive of academic needs.

My students will continue to embrace their love for reading. Innovation is the leading cause of creativity, and I believe my students are future authors and scholars in the making. Every child, college bound!
