At My Little Fingertips

My Project

My students love to read! I teach kindergarten through second grade English Learners as a resource teacher. A major focus in my room is reading. I want my students to be able to see all the books I have in my classroom when choosing books to read by themselves or books they want read to them in my classroom that go along with the theme they are learning about in their homerooms.

Being able to have the books and materials they want to use at their fingertips will give them access they haven't had before.

My books in my classroom are currently stacked in bins where they have to shuffle through them to find what they might be interested in. With the tall bookshelf I hope to see them be able to browse the collections in an organized and easy manner. With the smaller display bookshelf I hope to curate a monthly theme to showcase certain books that relate to various cultures and celebrations. The five level shelf will help me to layout station materials that they will be able to grab themselves and put away when finished using the materials instead of hiding behind closed doors of closets. I know these materials will open up a new world of learning for my students!
