This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been a middle school ELA teacher for two years and have been learning new strategies to engage adolescents into reading. My students fall into a variety of reading levels, I have apprehensive and independent readers which allows me tailor my instruction to the needs of the students. The students are also willing to learn and most are easily motivated. I often times get very excited to share with my students new titles of books and to see them pick up those titles and engage in reading is very fulfilling. Students motivation for reading is contagious and is exciting.

My Project

I currently teach 7/8 grade ELA and service 120 students. The pacing of middle school is super fast. As a result, I have to be prepared with all the necessary materials at hand. I conducted small groups to keep students informed their progress as readers and writers and having organized notes, work and grades is essential. At times I wasted time, flipping through binders and paperwork finding scores and notes of a particular student. Having an iPad will help me organize information by folders and allow me to quickly access student information to use in order to support their areas of need.
