Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, motivated, and full of questions! They love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of a lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is located in South Texas, which is surrounded by many low socioeconomic communities. We have a great number of students who receive accommodations. Many of the families often struggle to find employment and opportunity in our community and their children often feel they are heading to the same fate. The biggest obstacle they face is a lack of technology to allow them to learn to the greatest extent possible
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and with the technology, they are open to endless possibilities.
My Project
This iPad will allow me to make original lessons, grade, and distribute lessons to my students both in person and on the go. As a coach I will be allowed to instruct my students on the way to games, host online tutoring sessions for distant learning, contact, grade and distribute educational material to all my students from a distance. At the moment as a district, we have managed to get some technology for students but have not received updates to technology that allow teachers to have the flexibility to maximize the use of technology both in person or at a distance.
