My Students

I am a first year teacher working at a Title I, Expanded Learning Time School. My first grade students come from various cultures, income-levels, and experiences. Due to low income/poverty, our students all receive free breakfast, lunch, and a snack.

Despite the challenges many of my students face on a daily basis, my students come to school with an enthusiasm and love for learning!

As I look around my classroom, I see 24 very unique personalities, all with different learning styles and needs. As a first year teacher, I want to give my students everything I can, in order for them to succeed. I love watching my students grow as learners. I know that with the right tools, I can watch them soar higher than I ever expected!

My Project

Last year, students lost a lot of academic, in-classroom time due to the COVID 19 pandemic. My students are at various reading levels. The leveled readers will give students books in their hands while at home and allow them to work on phonics at their current level.

Every day in math, we use personal whiteboards to demonstrate knowledge of mathematical concepts such as drawing number bonds, pictures and equations to show understanding of addition and subtraction word problems.

My students have whiteboards, but many of their markers are out of ink. The dice will allow my students to practice their addition and subtraction fluency through fun games and activities.

Getting these materials would help my students significantly while they are at home learning.
