Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a special education teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, I am aware that my students are faced with social, emotional, and educational challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they may face, I want to keep things positive and engaging for the students including the activities they are required to complete at home.

My goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment for all of my students using supplies for at home learning to enhance their independent practice time.

I have found that with the recent events in the news, I am lacking in appropriate materials to allow for my students to succeed at home during hybrid learning.

As a teacher, I find myself continuously working on improving the students' self-esteem, perseverance, and academic abilities in a fun and creative way. The students are energetic, creative, and interested in learning all they can.

My Project

The materials I am requesting would not only benefit myself but the students and families as well! The students are expected to stay 6 feet apart which would not be possible if they are missing key supplies to make this possible. My goal is to provide students with individual "workboxes" that will have supplies for the students to use to enhance the lessons I am teaching.

These supplies would allow for students to take home resources that they will need to support the online learning we are expecting come September!

My students require various opportunities to use hands-on manipulatives to learn new concepts and this project will allow me to provide the supplies while allowing for safe social distancing!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
