Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 25 energetic and fun-loving first graders. I teach at a Title I school, and 89% of my families live in poverty. Half of my students are English Language Learners and the other half are English Only students. There are various learning modalities of students in my classroom. I enjoy being a part of my students' daily education.
Currently, my students are learning through the Distance Learning Model.
My students and I meet through weekly Zoom meetings to continue instruction. I am able to teach various subjects, such language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and art. Teaching under these conditions is difficult and unsettling. In addition to Zoom meetings, I provide daily assignments through websites and pencil and paper. I have limited resources from my home to continue instruction. It is challenging to have 100% of students logged onto the Zoom meetings due to various home circumstances. I attempt to continue, continuity of learning during these unprecedented times, however, it is difficult. My goal is to ensure 100% of my students are engaged in learning!
My Project
I teach 25 energetic first graders. I am continuing to teach my students from my home to theirs. I am able to conduct lessons via Zoom calls. During our shelter in place orders due to COVID-19, I teach through the distance learning approach. It has many challenges with maintaining learning engagement.
The instructional supplies I have requested will provide tremendous aid in maintaining my students' education with the distance learning program.
Through the usage of brightly colored markers on large chart paper and whiteboard, will allow me to continue education during this pandemic. My goal is to continue to have my students soar academically!
