Assess Reading to Individualize Instruction!

Help me give my students better reading instruction. By using the Fountas and Pinnell benchmark reading assessment I am able to better determine where to give instruction.

My Students

The students I work with each have an Individualized Education Plan. This means the students are academically two years or more below grade level. Reading, math, and so much more does not come easy to them. They want to learn and be like everyone else!

My students are working hard to close the gap in all aspects of life.

Many of the students are on a behavior plan. My students work hard everyday to be better than they were yesterday.

My Project

I am asking for a Fountas and Pinnell benchmark assessment kit. This reading assessment kit is crucial to many teachers and even more so to special education teachers.

This kit allows a teacher to develop better reading instruction for each student.

Because this is an assessment given individually the results are very specific and individual to each student. This reading assessment measures how many words correctly the student reads or their fluency. The assessment also scores the student's comprehension of the story the student read.

I use the results of this assessment to individualize a student's reading instruction. I also use the assessment results to write in the student's IEP (Indiviualized Education Plan). This data helps me to validate and prove the student is two or more grade levels below average.
