This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My first graders love school. They come to school excited and ready to learn. They spread that excitement to their teacher. Writing in our classroom doesn’t always get the time that it deserves. We need to find creative ways to embed writing into our daily routine. I want to improve their writing, while also learning about the world.
A subscription to Scholastic News will help build our schema about current and engaging topics each month.
We will extend our learning about these topics through writing. Writing journals will give us a place to keep all our writing samples. At the end of first grade, we will have a collection of our amazing writing from the entire year. Durable folders will help keep any notes and other materials organized when we are writing. My students will build their schema about current events, learn organization skills, and improve their writing abilities with this project!
