The students were incredibly excited to receive their new unfinished work folders, which have become a game-changer for our daily routine. This simple addition has empowered them to take ownership of their progress, and I am proud to report that they have been keeping their materials more organized than ever before. This sense of order has created a much calmer environment, allowing them to dive straight into their creative art projects using the new paper and coloring supplies with enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nIn our core academic subjects, the impact of these supplies is just as visible. The new whiteboard markers have turned math lessons into a highly interactive experience; students are more engaged and willing to take risks with their problem-solving when they can work it out dynamically on their boards. Similarly, our literacy and social studies blocks have been elevated through the use of highlighters and pencils. Students are becoming active readers, carefully annotating text to deepen their understanding, while the glue sticks have allowed them to build comprehensive interactive notebooks that serve as a lasting record of their learning journey.\r\n\r\nUltimately, these resources have made a profound difference in the day-to-day life of our class. By having the right tools on hand, students can focus less on searching for supplies and more on the actual process of discovery and creation. The quality of their work has improved, but more importantly, their confidence and excitement for learning have grown significantly. We are so grateful for these items, as they have truly revitalized our classroom spirit and academic focus.","fullyFundedDate":1759214557251,"projectUrl":"project/lets-be-successful-this-year/9372442/","projectTitle":"Let's Be Successful This Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. G Davis-Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8431859_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651754024830","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8431859"},{"teacherId":8274495,"projectId":9487888,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new binders and sheet protectors, their excitement was immediate and genuine. They did not know ahead of time that I had requested these materials, so it was a wonderful surprise for them. I explained that I had asked for these items because they are expensive and important for our classroom, and that kind, generous people had donated money so we could receive them at no cost. My students were amazed to hear that people they had never met cared enough to help them learn. Many students smiled, clapped, and asked questions about who the donors were. It was a powerful moment that helped them understand kindness, generosity, and community support at a very young age.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the binders and sheet protectors to create individual student portfolios. Each student has their own binder where we are carefully saving work from the very beginning of kindergarten through the end of the year. These portfolios include early writing samples, drawings, letter practice, sentence writing, and other learning activities. The sheet protectors have been especially helpful in keeping student work safe, organized, and neat. Students feel proud placing their work into their binders, and they enjoy looking back at earlier pages to see how much they have grown. These materials have helped my students take ownership of their learning and feel proud of their progress.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our students are to continue adding to their portfolios throughout the school year as they grow academically and emotionally. As we work on writing skills, students will move from learning to write their names to writing complete sentences and short stories. They will also include math work, reading responses, and reflection pages where they share what they have learned. At the end of kindergarten, each student will take their portfolio home to share with their family. These binders will serve as a meaningful keepsake that shows their hard work, growth, and accomplishments. Thanks to your generosity, my students will have something tangible to look back on and remember all they achieved during their kindergarten year. Your support has made a lasting impact on my classroom, and we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1762265274994,"projectUrl":"project/pages-of-progress-my-portfolio-journey/9487888/","projectTitle":"Pages of Progress: My Portfolio Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barraza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8274495_orig.jpg?crop=428,428,x93,y64&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703828526358","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/gracielabarraza"},{"teacherId":8431859,"projectId":9361408,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous support of our project, \"Let's Get Moving.\" Thanks to your kindness, my students now have access to soccer balls, basketballs, cones, and other equipment that has truly transformed our physical education activities. The students have been playing with the soccer balls daily, and it has been wonderful to see how it has benefited not just my class, but all fifth graders in our school. The increased engagement and joy during outdoor play have made a positive impact on their overall well-being and teamwork skills.\r\n\r\nWith basketball season underway, I've also noticed a significant uptick in the use of the basketballs, which has helped foster a healthy sense of competition and camaraderie among students. The cones have been especially useful during our flag football games—allowing us to create a proper field, which contributed to our team winning our games and ultimately the championship. Your support has truly made a difference in encouraging active, healthy lifestyles and building a strong sense of community among our students. The new resources have quickly become a favorite part of our daily routine. For example, during a recent small-group activity, students used the foam letters to build their names and match sounds to objects around the room. Not only did this strengthen fine motor skills, but it also sparked conversations about letters, words, and sharing ideas with friends.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' faces lit up with excitement! They couldn't wait to explore the colorful dough and foam letters, and many immediately began creating shapes, letters, and even \"pretend cupcakes.\" Their joy was contagious and set a wonderful tone for learning that day.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom now has fresh opportunities for both teacher-led lessons and independent exploration. Moving forward, we'll be using these resources in a community helpers project where students will design signs, labels, and small props to support our dramatic play center. This will give them another meaningful way to practice literacy and fine motor skills while connecting learning to real-world experiences.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has brought new energy and excitement to our classroom, and we are deeply grateful for your support. It was a lot of fun engaging students in hands-on science experiments. Here are some of the things we have done.\r\n\r\nI led students in making Elephant toothpaste. For this experiment we use the scale and flasks. I apologize that I did not get pictures of these experiments, but student had a blast watching it explode. They were intrigued on the use of the scales to measure out the ingredients. \r\n\r\nOur next experiment, was to find out if Kosher Salt and Epsom Salt naturally evaporate the same. The answer to this was no. Kosher Salt left what looked like squares, while the Epsom Salt left behind a snow like texture.
