This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Were you a band member in school? Many of my students would like to play in the band but do not have an instrument to play. Many of my students families simply cannot afford the cost to purchase or rent an instrument.

I have the best job in my school.

I teach band to middle school students in grades 6 through 8. The district that I teach in is located in a high-need community. My students come to class excited to learn and play music. They practice their instruments regularly and are always ready to learn new things.

My Project

I need a new flute to add to my instrument inventory. The flute is a popular instrument choice for new band students. I have several students on my instrument waiting list that would like to play the flute. The only thing that is preventing them from learning is the lack of an instrument for them to play. This instrument will give my students the opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument. This is a skill that they can take with them for the rest of their life.
