Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As the school year begins, the Common Core standards are going into full swing. My students come from a low-income area. However, this has not stopped them from dreaming of a better future.
My fourth grade superstars are an awesome bunch of children.
Many come from low income households. They are an animated bunch, and love to tell stories. This is only the first week of school, and already they are competing with each other to see who gets the floor. Our school is a Title One school located in an urban area of California.
My Project
My kids will be over the moon, knowing that they will be able to let their imaginations run wild through their writing. Not only will they be able to write and sharpen their pencils in their own classroom, the composition books will allow them to be more organized with their note taking and keeping track of their work. No more going to the staff workroom or my colleague's classroom to sharpen pencils. No more losing valuable classroom time. My students need 111 writing journals and a pencil sharpener.
This project is very important because not only will my babies have access to greatly needed materials.
They can now feel a sense of being in an equipped classroom. Now pencils can be sharpened, and imaginations can soar!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
