This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students love to write and have been publishing their stories and essays by hand. I want to give them the experience of seeing their thoughts, ideas, and illustrations printed out. I'm hoping to elevate their motivation and self-awareness as writers.

My students love to learn and writing has become one of their favorite subjects during the school day.

The majority of them do not have regular access to a computer or printer outside of school. Integrating technology in the classroom can help broaden my students' lifelong skills as writers and learners. We have a computer lab at our school and students have 30 minutes of scheduled time each week, but the printer in the lab is rarely in working order.

My Project

Having our own printer in the classroom will enable us to create documents in the computer lab, and then save or email them to a file, which can be printed out in the classroom. This particular printer that I am requesting also has a scanner which will enable us to scan illustrations and photos to include in our published works.

Writing is the most difficult skill to teach young students, but I believe it is the most important skill to have in life.

With your donation, you will be motivating and enabling many students to enjoy writing and define themselves as "writers". Being able to publish a piece of work using technology will just give my students the extra boost they can use and build on for the rest of their lives.
