Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students are rambunctious, ambitious, hilarious, little adults. They're intelligent, sensitive, and loving characters who each know Ms. Murray is their family, and I love every single one of them. A short story describes them best: My class noticed that they were the only class not consistently receiving parfaits for breakfast. They found their lack of parfaits was an injustice. Especially since even 1st graders ate parfaits each morning! The scholars first complained, and then they campaigned. They decided to ask the cafeteria staff to alter their breakfast but they were quickly told to reference the school food calendar. Two parfaits a month just wasn't enough while 5th graders ate it daily. The students then wrote a petition and had the entire school sign it, including the vice principal. Long story short, my wonderful 3rd grade class presented a speech in front of the corporate representatives for their cafeteria food along with our principal. Everyone was impressed! The third graders are now able to receive parfaits during their lunch hour as a compromise. This is a small example of how determined and brilliant my class is.

My Project

This imaginative and excited 3rd grade group would love to practice their performance skills but they need scripts! Scholastic offers several types of classic fairytale stage scripts and with your help, we can have enough for each student. By showing our big personalities through stage plays we can: develop fluency through repeated exposure to text, increase comprehension, integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening in an authentic context, engage students, increase reading motivation, and create confidence and improve the self-image of students.

Our students are also in need of cross-curricular learning through science and word skill workbooks.

Your donations are deeply appreciated!
