Aspiring Actors Need Lights to Make the Stage Shine!

My students need a spotlight to light up the stage. They put so much effort into what they practice, the audience should see them shine!

My Students

The Charter School has an amazing staff that makes every effort to ensure that the students are well-rounded. I am the music and drama teacher. Since taking over the performing arts at CSMH I have been able to have the 7th and 8th grade elective write, make props and scenery, and perform a musical adaptation called, "Snow White and the 5 Dwarfs". This musical even featured Siri as the magic mirror in their updated version. The 5th graders did a production of "Disney Dazzle." The 1st and 3rd graders sang holiday carols at school and in downtown San Jose. The Kinders were the opening act for Bingo Night. The 4th grade and 6th graders are currently working on skits and musicals on the Gold Rush and Greek mythology respectively. The 2nd graders are going to be singing for parent appreciation. In March we had a talent show for all interested students.

Currently, our school is in need of some stage lighting in order for our performers to really shine.

The CSMH recently had a gym built, which needs lighting, a sound system, risers and a curtain. Lighting is essential to see the performers faces, so lets start there. :)

My Project

Performing on stage is a goal that I have for every student in my classes. Being able to see the actors and actresses is of utmost importance when they are on stage. The students practice their singing, acting, and dancing skills all semester in order to be able to perform on the stage for an audience. The current lighting is all at the back of the stage. When the students are acting, dancing, or singing solos, duets, or small group numbers, they are performing in the shadows. Parents tell me all the time, "the show was amazing, but it was hard to see the kids faces. We really need better lighting!"

By donating to this project you will be providing the aspiring actors, actresses, singers, and dancers a stage where they can be seen and their talents and hard work can really shine.

This portable, LED spotlight emits a focused beam that can be made larger and smaller to accommodate singers of large group size like in the chorus of our fifth grade production of the "Disney Dazzle" medley musical. It will also spotlight solos, duets, and dancers in musicals like "Gold Dust or Bust" for the fourth graders. Talent show participants will really be able to showcase their skills anywhere on the stage with this spotlight. This model is simple to set up and tear down so anyone can easily be trained to use it effectively. It comes with a tripod for stabilization so that the person running it can do so comfortably and without having to worry about being unsteady. Having a movable spotlight will increase flexibility of staging. It can be used for a wide-range of performances. You will be providing students and parents with life long memories of their performances that are well lit!
