My Project

I would love your help acquiring new exciting early chapter books for my immersion students. All of these titles present various characters from different cultures and ethnicities. These wonderful characters go through a gamut of problems in the books and learn different lessons. These books are aligned to the CASEL competencies, which foster knowledge, skills, and attitudes across five areas of social and emotional competence. These competencies help students with their SEL learning. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

These wonderful books also show characters in various community situations, which will give my students great exposure to different jobs in the community.

We research jobs in second grades, so these books will be extremely helpful in building background knowledge needed for writing. In addition, these chapter books will build the needed skills for proficient reading in second grade, as well as build love and passion for reading.
