Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

During the 2021-2022 school year, I made the exciting leap from being a fifth grade teacher to being a kindergarten teacher! This year will be the first time any of my brand new kindergarten students have ever stepped foot inside of a classroom, as all area preschool classrooms were closed during the pandemic.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I firmly believe that supplying children with the highest quality education possible is one of the most meaningful ways of changing lives.

We are designated as a Title I school which means that the majority of our students hail from a low socioeconomic background. It is my intent and my goal as an educator to ensure that my students receive the same access to opportunities, materials, and education as their peers who attend more affluent schools.

My Project

May is Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! This project is asking for 20 books that we can read together during this month.

Read aloud time is always students favorite time of the day!

Bellies full from lunch, children curl up and let the words and illustrations of beautiful stories transport them to lands far beyond our classroom walls.

Every month, I coordinate our real aloud stories to complement the heritage being celebrated during that month. For example, in September and October, our read aloud books were centered around Latinx Heritage Month. In November, our read aloud books were centered about Native American Heritage Month. In February, our read aloud books were centered around Black History Month. Please help me to continue this tradition by supporting this project.
