My Project
Please help me increase my students' exposure to the power of Amy Tan. My American Literature students are a highly engaged and energetic group of readers who crave hearing from writers to whom they can relate.
Amy Tan's experience growing up Asian-American highlights a journey that speaks to so many young people today, as they try to establish balance between their home cultures and their new cultural experiences.
As many of my students are Asian-American readers, it is my belief that this book will honor their experiences, while also allowing them to hear from a successful female writer -- something that is often rare in American Lit courses.
