Asian American and Pacific Islander Stories for Middle School Students

Help me give my students Middle-Grade books in honor of AAPI Heritage Month!

My Project

It is essential to have Middle-Grade books and graphic novels written by AAPI authors in the classroom to promote diversity and representation.

Having these stories in our classroom can provide a platform for AAPI youth to see themselves represented in literature and gain a sense of validation and empowerment.

It can provide a window into the experience of other cultures helping to foster greater empathy and understanding among students of all backgrounds.

AAPI authors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their writing, drawing on their own cultural backgrounds and histories to create rich and nuanced stories. These stories can help to challenge stereotypes and offer new perspectives on familiar themes, promoting critical thinking and encouraging students to explore diverse perspectives. By including more books by AAPI authors in our classroom library, we can promote greater diversity, representation, and understanding among young readers.
