ASD Nest Presents: The Lion King Kids!

Help me give my students the microphones, lighting, costume supplies, and dance props that they will need to put on Disney's The Lion King Kids with the help of Disney Musicals in Schools!

My Students

Our students are hard-working, super-caring and curious learners.

"ASD Nest, gives kids with ASD a nurturing place to learn and grow and is a collaboration between the New York City Department of Education and NYU.

It launched in 2003 with four teachers and has since expanded to 54 elementary, middle, and high schools in New York City. 222's ASD Nest students are putting on Disney's The Lion King Kids at their school and on the broadway stage but they need your help!

Music teaches our students to imagine, innovate, collaborate and respond with wonderment and awe, and to respect the artistic contributions of all cultures. They love and need music, dance, art, and theater. They soak it up every chance they get. Whether it’s designing their own costumes, tapping out an amazing dance routine, or belting out a catchy melody, our students love to perform! At our school, we have an extremely enthusiastic community of students, parents, administrators and faculty, who recognize the importance of music in education and in life.

My Project

The ASD Nest students at our school in Brooklyn, New York have been selected by Disney Musicals in Schools to receive a mini-residency with the goal of putting on their own production of Disney's The Lion King Kids.

They will be performing the entire show on May 28th at our school and a selection from the show on June 11th in New York City on the actual Broadway Stage!

Your donation will go towards a wireless microphone set that will allow our students to deliver their lines with clarity and passion and art supplies that will allow them to build props, costumes, and scenery. You will also be providing our kids with dance props for their show-stopping numbers, as well as, a lighting system that will help make these youngsters shine!
