This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Finding the right toys to use with low-vision students, many of whom have other needs, can be difficult. I have to take into account their interest level and their ability to engage in sensory activities when I write lessons and choose supplies.
These spinning, vibrating, glowing globes are an effective and fun way to engage my special needs students, maintain their attention, and motivate them to explore their world through touch, hearing, and sight: They create a sensory explosion.
I have used similar toys in the past and the infants and toddlers love them, as do their parents. The babies like holding the vibrating orbs against their mouths, while the older toddlers stare at the lights. Parents are overjoyed to watch their children so engaged and enthusiastic.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
