This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is made up of 18 children from PreK-5th grade elementary school in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. My little learners are creative, clever and very spontaneous. They are active and curious kiddos who learn best when engaging in hands-on activities. My class uses their imagination to build, play, and collaborate while strengthening their problem-solving skills. Young children learn by imagining and doing. Every day I learn wonderful new things just by watching my PreKers play and interact with each other.
My Project
This classroom reading nook will provide my PreK students with a comfy, cozy, and relaxing place to focus on reading. Its purpose is to invite them into a place where they can settle in with a good book. By having a bright and cozy place to read, my preKers will be more motivated to spend time in the classroom library. It is a great day when I see my kiddos with books in their hands!
My goal is to foster a lifelong love for reading!
I have a corner in the classroom just waiting for a cozy rug and fun seating! The rug I chose will go and in hand with our first unit of study....Tree Study! The kiddos will love sitting on the colorful tree rug and pretend stumps!
