Most of the students I teach come from disadvantaged homes and are eager to be at school, where they have consistency and structure. Many of them move throughout the year and lack stability at home. They see school as their safe place and many are reluctant to leave for winter and summer breaks.
I love seeing how much my students learn and grow during the year.
This is due, in part, to their flexible learning environment that gives them the choices of where to sit, who to work with, and even the order of activities they complete throughout the day.
My Project
My second grade students sit on the floor frequently during the day. We do whole group lessons here and also my students often choose to work on the floor independently or with a friend as they read a book or solve a problem.
A new bright rug will make the classroom more inviting and provide a comfortable, colorful space to help my students to problem solve, work, read, and learn.
This rug will be a welcome addition to our classroom.
Thank you for considering supporting this project and helping my students to become snug as a bug in a rug!
