Do you remember picking out your school supplies for the year and organizing those supplies in a cool, new pencil box? Many of my students do not have the basics such as pencils. Over the years I have purchased these supplies but it is becoming costly.
My students are young learners that are just waiting to change the world!
I teach second grade and this year I have 22 students. We have a small school, about 300 students, in grades K-5. Although we are fortunate as a Title 1 school with the technology we have, it's the simple things that we find we are in desperate need for such as pencils. Seems like such a little thing!
My Project
Students go through many pencils every week. Whether they are writing stories, conducting a science experiment, or learning math - every one of these requires a pencil. They are also 7 and 8 years old. Even though they are responsible for their supplies, they use up the pencils doing their work. I am requesting 8 packs of pencils for my students to use in the classroom. Having 2 pencil sharpeners will also decrease the time sharpening with hand help sharpeners. Let's spend more time learning and less time finding supplies.
So often we are focused on the big supplies we need.
It is the small things that I really need in my classroom. You will make a huge difference in my classroom because the kids and I won't have to worry about a silly thing like pencils, we can focus on creating future citizens. Thank you so much for helping support this project!
