My Students
My students are eager to learn, curious, and active! We are a neighborhood school, which many of my students have attended since Pre-K. Our parents and community are actively involved. However, many of my students face learning challenges and seek alternative ways to engage in instruction. Over 40% of my class is economically disadvantaged. It is my goal to provide my students with an environment that is comfortable, safe, and provides each student with the opportunity to reach their academic potential.
My Project
Our school is excited to participate in Balanced Literacy and the Daily 5 to gear our students towards increased reading participation for the 2017-2018 school year! The most important material for our new endeavor requires additional BOOKS! Year after year, curriculums, standards and pacing guides change; however, a classroom library never goes out of style. My students are at an age in which they are excited by the thought of reading "chapter books," and my goal is to always keep a book in their hands. Reading will always provide an outlet for students to escape on daily adventures or heighten their curiosity. Whatever the desire, books can take us on that journey.
