My Project
We may be biased - but we believe we have the best kids around! Our school serves about 450 Kindergarten-5th grade students. One of our focus areas this year is growing our students' literacy and science skills through a collection of online, interactive, high-interest texts.
Last year, one of our teachers found an incredible platform called Reading A-Z and Science A-Z.
Reading A-Z contains an online library of 1,500 decodable texts (that align with current Science of Reading instruction), 3,000 high-interests books to peak student engagement, and more! Books can be printed, shared, projected, and imported through other platforms such as Google slides and Kami. The texts focus on increasing content area exposure, building background knowledge, and developing strong foundational skills like decoding and phonics.
Science A-Z enables educators to integrate science and literacy into daily instruction through a customizable collection of lessons, texts, and hands-on activities that allow students to think and act like scientists. Content includes Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, and Process Science - all aligned to the NC Science Standards! It also includes an annual subscription to "Science in the News" which keep students updated with articles about the ever changing scientific world.
This year, due to financial constraints, our district cut our technology budget and we are no longer able to fund Reading A-Z and Science A-Z. We believe these resources have made an immense difference for our students and we'd love to continue offering them the opportunity to grow with these programs.
Thank you for taking the time to read our proposal and for your support of our students!
