Classical Studies gives students an opportunity to not only understand the ancient world but make connections to the influences of the ancient world on the development of out modern culture. We are hoping to use some additional supplies and resources to create hands-on projects that will give us insights into the ancient world and help us make connections to our contemporary one.
Classical Studies helps us understand the development of the governments, literature, arts, and languages of the Western World.
When I teach Latin, I try to teach more than just the language. We learn the history and culture of the Romans. To reach beyond the learning of our books, I have developed multiple art & research projects to help our classes broaden our understanding to more than just the Latin language.
We are a STEM school offering Latin classes for the third year. Our school is in development, and we are adding a grade each year! This allows us to build on the success of each previous year, while maintaining our close focus on student success.
My Project
Utilizing these art supplies will allow my students to have hands-on experiences that will help them build their knowledge and understanding of how people lived and learned in the Classical Era.
With these supplies, we plan to make authentic Roman mosaics, frescoes, sculptures, jewelry, calligraphy, and more.
Our school's system's resources are allocated in such a way that we cannot get non-textbook items issued from the school system.
Being able to work with items that are "outside of the box" allows us to enrich our learning in ways that aren't accounted for in a book. Please help us expand our appreciation of ancient civilizations!
