Arts and Education Night - An Event to Remember!

Help me give my students freestanding displays to exhibit their work. They are large and sturdy so students and families can walk around both sides. The displays are easy to store so they can be used for years.

My Students

There’s nothing like seeing the pride on a student's face at an art show. They will tug on their parent’s hands, pulling them along saying, “Come see what I made!” Once they locate their piece they stand back, glowing, ready to explain the painting/drawing/sculpture and share the joy of being an artist. Because, as Picasso said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

I want to give my students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade this experience on a grand scale by participating in a district-wide Arts and Education Night exhibition.

My Project

Art and Education Night is an annual event that will include elementary students for the first time. The large high school gymnasium is lined with booths showing the different items students have made or learned about. The technology classes have drone demonstrations. There are musical performances. The FFA exhibits plants they have grown. The visual arts students have a huge exhibition of paintings, drawings, printmaking, sculpture and more. The community gathers to see the work and refreshments are served. Parents, faculty and family members attend to see the performances and display of the student talent.

The gym is a large, wonderful space but there is no way to display artwork, as it cannot be affixed to the walls.

Free standing displays will allow me to display my students’ work in an organized, professional manner. It will give the people attending the opportunity to walk around and admire the work from both sides, similar to the way art is displayed in a gallery. Whatsmore, the displays are an investment for the future as they can be easily transported, disassembled and used over and over.
