This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All the different arts and crafts materials requested in this project will make an immediate difference in the lives of my students. We will get to use the materials right away and create beautiful works of art.

The right variety of arts and crafts materials will help my students thrive and express themselves in a creative way.

I have come to understand how important it is for a child to have an ample supply of arts and crafts materials. In my classroom, there is always various types of work and play going on. My students are writing, reading, drawing, investigating, playing, and learning. The diversity of my class means I need to provide all type of materials to meet their specific needs and levels of creativity.

Feathers, glitter shape stickers, tissue paper squares, and even alphabet stickers and blank books are just some of the materials the children will use and make up stories or personal letter and word books. They will also make elaborate art projects to take home and show off their work. This enhances a child’s experience during kindergarten. Creating artwork is also a way children can express their feelings and creativity.

As an early childhood educator, it is my mission to make my students welcomed, loved, and happy. There are many challenges that come along with working at a Title I school, having enough art and craft supplies should not be one of them. Children love to create and use their imaginations, and with these materials they will be motivated to write more, read more, and create elaborate art projects. These aspects of kindergarten; the love of school and the eagerness to learn is why it is so important to have a vibrant, organized, ample supplies of different art and crafts materials for the children.
