Our school has a very diverse population of students coming from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We serve a population from Pre-K to grade 8 and include some students with physical and developmental disabilities. Our school library is the beating heart of this community and I am honored to be the librarian at our incredible school. The library is so much more than just a place to read, however.
I also host a middle school arts and crafts elective, whereby a small group of middle school students join me each week to get creative with arts, crafts and building supplies.
With no budget in our library for these activities, it is only through donations from people like you that we can get all of the supplies we need! Your donation will help us turn on our creative side and make projects like friendship bracelets, "All About Me" etchings, and key chains. The arts and crafts are only part of the important work we’re doing each week, however. The real value comes from the relationships students are forming and the discussions we’re having about friends, family and moving on to high school in the coming years. Your support of our little group of students will create long lasting memories during their time here at our school and encourage a love of creating for years to come.
