Our classroom is a Conscious Discipline classroom. We believe in helping each other strive to be a school family every day. My job is to keep the kids safe, and it is their job to help keep it that way.
We are an energetic, rural, high poverty Kindergarten classroom.
We realize that what we do each day helps us work toward our class mission of getting as ready as possible for first grade. We work toward a goal of self-motivation rather than reward-oriented goals.
In Kindergarten, arts and crafts time allows many opportunities for kids to be creative, learn to listen, and follow directions.
Having various colors and types of papers, and paints encourage kids to problem solve and create their art.
Being able to provide options as the kids are creating is very valuable to me. I do not like exact cookie cutter art projects, I want each child's personality to shine in their work.
Being able to preserve some of their art by laminating it will allow parents a great chance to hold onto the art until the kids grow up and really see what they did in Kindergarten.
