This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students do not have access to an art class, and I am looking to give them that opportunity through a lunch and advisory club. I have taught some of the kids how to knit, but I hope to set up an established club next year, and I will need the resources to match the interest I have received. My students are special because every student is an English learner. I want to give them opportunities to learn something they might not have experienced in their home country. Skills that cannot be taught in a classroom are the most important to me as well as as building a community connection. Knitting can be an individual art, but with common interest, can evolve into a social activity.
