My Project

I am requesting 6 large tables and 2 large storage cabinets so that I can have students work in groups and have the space to safely store their artwork. I currently have individual desks, which do not allow for students to work together, to share supplies, or to have camaraderie during art class. As for storage, I have 1 accessible storage shelf in my classroom. I have a large closet, but I store my supplies in that area, making it unsafe for students to have easy access to! I am about to enter my 10th year of teaching and I try to improve my class and classroom setup every year. This setup would help me give more attention to students. While walking around, I can easily see 5-6 projects at once and give feedback; whereas now, I have to stop at 20-30 individual desks multiple times a class period, this can be very difficult! I have found in the past, that students who sit at a table together focus more, put more effort into their projects, and actually have fewer behavioral issues because they aren't restricted to a lone seat within a row. I want to give my students the best chance at success within art. Art is vital in all areas of life. Please help me give my students a chance to see this!
