Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for nineteen years and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
The requested digital software for writing and for art will help develop the fab lab makerspace area in the school library media center. High school kids can learn. Often children come in on lunch and just want to relax and draw. Sometimes they want to write. Having these resources will enable scholars to put together publications that can be posted online.
Publisher Rocket and Affinity Design will help high school writers learn search terms, how to tag their work and create beautiful graphic designs for covers and illustrated digital art.
Learning these software programs and having marketable technology skills will enable our young adults to have a toolbox of skills to compete and be college and career ready when they graduate high school.
Thank you for your time, consideration and support of NY public school children. When you care about them, you care about the future and equity in education.
