My students need the experiences and materials that enrich their lives in a positive way. I believe, as a first grade teacher at a high-risk school, that all children deserve these experiences.
Many children in my classroom are low income and have few experiences to explore outside of their small town.
Many students in my classroom do not have books at home and many other basic necessities. It is very important for my classroom to be a place where students can have a wealth of resources in order to be successful.
My Project
What would our masterpiece contain? What can you learn from making a model of the solar system? Can you learn math by drawing a picture? Where can we visit through our artwork? I teach 1st grade students Math, Science, and Social Studies at a low-income school. I love to teach children to be creative and have fun while learning. There are many fun activities that I cannot always do because of lack of funding. We have few supplies supplied by the children and would love to do more in our classroom with much needed art supplies. Many children have been affected from recent flooding in the area. No matter how many textbooks that you look at or photos that you see, making the projects help young minds to learn the concepts. I may have a child that will develop a cure for cancer or be the next mathematics genius. They need to receive the education that ever child deserves. Let's give them this opportunity. I would like for my students to make their own models of our state Louisiana. They could also use the materials to explore mathematical concepts. When I teach addition, I would like for them to make pictures of math facts with playdough, paint, or markers on paper. They could make spectacular books with these materials. Wonderful art projects could be created! Learning of water cycle in Science could be much more meaningful through illustrations. All of these teaching ideas take lots of materials, so my children would benefit from your generosity. Please consider funding our proposal to do great things!
