This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a dual immersion charter school. As a teacher, I try to provide my students, primarily English learners, with as many visual aids and extra tools as possible.
As an all-inclusive charter school, we emphasize biliteracy and the arts, by administering hands-on materials to make learning equitable for all diverse learning abilities.
With this Arts and Language Development rich environment, it is important to provide students with engaging lessons in science as well, so they can understand the world around them. Help me provide engaging science lessons.
My Project
During this global pandemic, it is important to use all of our teaching moment opportunities. In 5th grade, we are learning about Matter. What better way to bring a real world situation, science and realia into the classroom than an artistic experiment?
This project will show students how matter can transform in gorgeous artistic ways, while also prioritizing the importance of hand washing and soap.
This project is a true STEAM activity.
Having hands on STEAM activities allows learners of all abilities to relate to scientific concepts which may have otherwise been incomprehensible.
