My Students
I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma. My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunch.
These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways, such as room transformations, integrating the arts into our lessons, and project-based learning.
My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!
My Project
My students love to read! When we pair our novels with art projects that represent our learning, they are more excited and engaged.
Art helps us activate more areas of our brain and helps with comprehension!
We will use these ink cartridges in our classroom printer to help us print the digital art projects we will be creating that represent the novel "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park that we are reading together in class. Ink is not provided by our school, so this will enable my students to have a hands on representation of their hard work. We are creating motivational flyers and ads to coincide with our project to help raise money for a water well in Sudan. My students are excited about finding the most creative ways to present their ideas! We will use the laminating sheets to help preserve their work.
