My Students

My classroom of kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students are fun, energetic, and full of life for learning. They have diverse special needs that make each of their learning styles and personalities differ. We are a Title I school and many of my students are from low-income families. They have minimal access to necessary tools for development in their community. It is vital that they have access and the opportunity as all students should to high-quality and engaging learning items in the classroom.

My Project

My classroom consist of students with sensory needs and the arts and craft supplies will help with them learning to adjust to the exposure of different textures. On a daily basis, we are doing sensory stations for the students to touch, smell and use paint, playdoh, glue, paper, and sand to name a few, so they can adapt to things in their environment.

Sensory is a large portion of our daily activities and my students enjoy the items we use, so they can be comfortable out in the community with their sensory needs.

Students will be using the kinetic sand, foam sensory paints, easy squeeze scissors and sensory items daily in class and love to paint and make their hand prints with the giant ink pads. These items are a necessity in a classroom with students who have sensory needs.
