Artistic Endeavors

I have the honor of teaching a group of enthusiastic, creative, and thoughtful 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in Tennessee.

While our community is full of hardworking teachers and parents, we are an inner city, Title I school in East Tennessee with 85% of students on free and reduced lunch.

My Project

Growing up with a boxful of art supplies, crayons, paint, markers, stencils, rulers, scrap paper, it disheartens me to know that a vast majority of my students do not have access to art supplies at home. Therefore, it is my goal as an art educator to provide them with a wide variety of experiences with which to express their creativity at school. In order to most benefit my students, they need materials to aid them in effectively communicating their thoughts, emotions, and imaginations.

Having access to a variety of novel materials will help to encourage, inspire, and motivate students in their artistic endeavors.

It is my hope that as students grow and mature they will always make room for art in their lives.
