Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
GES students come from predominantly low-income families in low-income areas. Our students have taken a huge hit by COVID-19--learning online was incredibly difficult for most and physically impossible for others who struggled with internet issues or even the impossibility for some to afford daycare with two working parents. Not only have our students taken a hit academically but emotionally and socially--something that art helps us with.
At GES, we learn through TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) which puts the students in the driver's seat of creating.
They plan their own ideas and pick art themes and ideas that are relevant to their lives with their own creativity leading the way. This project helps us to get more art materials allowing our artists to create more diverse and interesting artworks.
